IFS Schwartz early Resistance to Spiritual Exploration
The speaker encountered strong resistance to spiritual exploration due to the anti-religious influence of their father. Despite trying to explain their experiences through evolutionary and other explanations, they could not deny the recurring spiritual nature of their findings. It was only when students related their experiences to spiritual traditions like Ottoman and Hinduism that the speaker's curiosity about spirituality increased. They had to unlearn the beliefs pumped into them to be open to spiritual exploration. Similarly, the other speaker also faced resistance due to encounters with inauthentic religious practices and a strong adherence to the scientific method. Both speakers had to work on overcoming their resistance to spiritual exploration and align their understanding with the data they encountered.
