Why Do Mental States Cause Stuff?
Philip Asa: Why do mental states get to do stuff? Even if wou've got a solution, you've still got the problem. And i don't think we have an intelligible explanation of why particular experiences have the causal powers that they do. Tha's another view, so there is another way of getting out of this problem. But philip says in his paper, the functionalist doesn't have this problem because consciousness is determined by nothing above and over.
