NOTE

DC vs AC Current Systems

Direct current (DC) was safe but had limited transmission range, with Edison's system only able to send electricity within a half-mile radius. On the other hand, alternating current (AC) developed by Westinghouse had the advantage of a motor and the capability for long-distance transmission. George Westinghouse, unbound by loyalty to DC, imported AC patents and engineering talent from Europe to secretly develop a functional AC system, leading to the competition between the two systems.
