Regulating Digital Engagement for Sensitive Periods

The idea is to implement digital morality blockouts during sensitive periods, similar to media blockouts before elections, to prevent indiscriminate virality. This process should involve bipartisan oversight, public transparency, and a good faith effort to reduce excessive engagement on platforms. The opposite of engagement is latency, so hitting engagement companies where it hurts means introducing pauses to prevent continued engagement.
