Research suggests that therapy models account for less than 1% of the outcome, while the therapist accounts for the lion's share of differences in therapy outcomes. The theoretical orientation or school of thought (referred to as 'models') that a therapist comes from, like cognitive behavioral or emotion-focused, only contributes a minimal proportion to the outcome. Instead, the therapist's individual characteristics and approach play a significantly larger role in influencing the success of therapy.
