Marguerite de Navarre's translation work served as an initial step into writing during a time when there were very few female writers. Her translation of Luther's work, although not published, circulated in multiple manuscripts in the late 16th century. 'The Heptamaran,' her masterpiece, comprises 72 short stories told by 10 aristocrats stranded in a monastery, similar to Boccaccio's decamaran. Modeled after Boccaccio's work, 'The Heptamaran' was intended to have 100 stories, depicting calamities of murder, sword fights, and other events.
