The author initially had a lack of enthusiasm for a project but now enjoys it. They created a series of books called the great mental models, which applies university concepts to real-world situations. They later developed a course called decision by design to teach practical decision-making tools. They adapted the course for online use due to the COVID pandemic. One example of a tool is separating problem definition from problem solution to improve meeting efficiency.
