NOTE

LinkedIn - Skills Is a Thrilling Behavior Change

LinkedIn is seeing a tremendous behavior change in the use of skills on the platform. Recruiters are now focusing more on skills rather than pedigree and which companies candidates have worked for. Close to 50% of recruiters are using skills to look for professionals, which is a significant increase. On the other side, professionals are adding more skills to their profiles, with close to 365 million skills added in the past year, a 40% year-over-year change. This is important because the job market is changing rapidly, and the skill set required for jobs is expected to change by 50% in the next five to six years. Verifying skills is a challenge, but LinkedIn is investing in professional certifications to validate skills. Certifications can be displayed on a candidate's profile, providing recruiters with verified skills. This focus on skills and the ability to learn and acquire skills is crucial for a successful workforce match.
