The Importance of Humility and Credibility for Leaders

Leaders often mistakenly believe that to be considered great, they must only do the right things. However, apologizing shows humility which inspires others. Connectors, who are good on the inside, live by what they communicate. In the first six months, communication is more important than credibility as people take what leaders say at face value. After six months, credibility becomes more important as people get to know the leader. Therefore, it is crucial for leaders to be better on the inside than on the outside. The credibility checklist includes connecting with oneself as it affects how one sees others. If a person is small, insecure, petty, jealous, and angry on the inside, they will see these qualities in others too.
