To resolve this conflict, he creates Mr. Hyde, a separate identity who can indulge in sensual pleasures without tarnishing Dr. Jekyll's reputation. This solution allows Dr. Jekyll to experience the pleasures indirectly through Mr. Hyde, providing a balance between propriety and hedonism.
