Revolutionary Satellite Coverage in 1960s
The first Corona satellite mission in 1960 provided more photo coverage of the Soviet Union than all U2 flights combined over five years, generating over 800,000 images during the program. Unlike modern satellites, these satellites used film photography, requiring the physical retrieval of film from space, enabling an unprecedented level of surveillance without the risks associated with manned flights.
