Teaching people who are three steps behind you is more effective because when you are too far ahead, you can't remember the problems you faced earlier. The curse of knowledge makes it difficult for us to imagine not knowing something once we know it. People find it impossible to jump back to their previous mindset and experiences. To truly understand others, it is better to look at what they did when they were at the same stage as us rather than just listening to what they say.
