Loss of identity occurs when a significant part of one's identity changes, such as a name change. Loss of turf can be physical or related to a job description. Loss of structure involves disruptions in planned life routines. Loss of control is experienced when decision-making autonomy decreases. Loss of future is the shift in expected life trajectory. Loss of attachments refers to letting go of relationships one believed would be long-lasting. Lastly, loss of meaning or purpose involves a fundamental shift in one's outlook on life.
