Spark and start of Arc
The speaker had a plan to build a platform called Reppler where anyone could create web apps through a browser. Initially, the idea included building a programming language, but the complexity led the speaker to focus solely on the programming language part as an open-source project named Arc. The venture was initially a team effort, but due to team members refusing to join, the speaker ended up leading a group of young programmers in building the project. The speaker eventually decided against turning the project into a company and shifted focus to the open-source programming language aspect, leading to the creation of Arc.
