Pinochet and the Chilean Coup

The left often criticizes Augusto Pinochet as a fascist, although some argue he wasn't all wrong. Despite his brutal tactics and embezzlement of millions of dollars, he targeted communists who he believed had harmed the economy. Pinochet's regime resulted in the deaths of around 3,000 people, mainly former Communist Party members thrown from helicopters. In Chile, there are still some who admire figures like Pinochet due to the country's past socialist and communist rule.
