In 2017, I discovered that energy and heat consumption, as well as water usage, were major obstacles for large-scale director capture. The amount of CO2 released and the water scarcity caused by other forms of director capture are concerning. Increasing CO2 capture by billions of tons per year would also lead to a 25% rise in industrial water consumption. This unsustainable scenario highlights the challenges of director capture in terms of energy, heat, and water usage. California has strict regulations against industrial processes with significant greenhouse gas emissions and water consumption, and many other jurisdictions are following suit.
