Choose to be around people who uplift your spirits and energize you, rather than those who leave you feeling drained and exhausted. These 'pent-house people' can inspire and motivate you, making you feel ready to take on the world. Conversely, avoid 'basement people' or 'energy vampires' who can cast a shadow over your mood and motivation, leaving you and others exhausted. Collaborating with uplifting individuals can make work more energizing, as psychologists have studied how certain interactions can positively impact our energy levels.
This is an exclusive excerpt from my New York Times bestselling book, Feel-Good Productivity! Chapter 3 is all about how other people can have a huge impact on our productivity and wellbeing - whether that's draining our energy, or inspiring us to create great things together. So, if we can harness the positive effects of teamwork, communication, and community, we can do our best possible work. We'll be releasing more of these chapters week by week, so stay tuned and enjoy :)
