Character, Competence, and Resilience

Encouraging children to make decisions and allowing them to make mistakes helps them learn and develop resilience. This approach does not mean allowing them to make unsafe decisions, but rather letting them brush up against the guardrails of failure. The speaker's personal leadership philosophy is based on three elements - character, competence, and resilience - and their sub-components can be learned and strengthened through training and practice.
