Prioritize Behavioral Archetypes Over Personas

Generalizing experience through personas can be misleading due to their qualitative nature and limited applicability. Instead, relying on behavioral archetypes is more effective for understanding user actions. The five canonical behavioral archetypes—started, always, never, sometimes, and stopped—provide a clearer framework as they are mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive, ensuring all user behaviors are represented. This framework allows for a better grasp of how individuals actually interact with activities, rather than relying on potentially trivialized personas.
