NOTE

The War of Independence and the Nakba

The declaration of Israel as a state led to the War of Independence and the Nakba for Palestinians. During this war, Israel's territory expanded, displacing 750,000 Palestinians. These Palestinians were never allowed to return to their homes, contributing to the lack of a universally recognized Palestinian state. Additionally, the war resulted in a significant immigration of Jews from the Middle East and North Africa to Israel, nearly doubling its population.
