Michael Mauboussin: How To Find Your Edge As A Writer
How I Write
Like a toddler's synapses, every new paradigm starts out wildly inefficient
Every new paradigm starts with a period of inefficiency, similar to a toddler's brain with excessive synaptic connections that are later pruned. This process of experimentation, learning what works, and discarding what doesn't, is an efficient way to adapt and learn about the environment. This pattern is not unique to brain development; it is also seen in industry development where a surge in competitors occurs, followed by a consolidation phase. While this process may seem wasteful in retrospect, it is a strategic way to explore possibilities and refine strategies for success.
