NOTE

Neglecting the National Interest Fosters Dependency

U.S. involvement in Middle Eastern conflicts has led to a significant neglect of the vital China trade and manufacturing capabilities, undermining national security. This neglect created dependency on foreign manufacturing, particularly from China, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan. If the U.S. had adopted a more nationalist approach rather than a globalist one—especially after the Cold War—it could have better preserved its manufacturing base and mitigated risks related to geopolitical tensions. Thus, a realignment of focus on national interests is essential to avoid entering future conflicts from a position of weakness.
