NOTE

Understanding the Testing and Criteria for a One-Hour Fire Resistance Rating

A one-hour fire resistance rating test involves subjecting a 10x10 foot mockup wall to high temperatures for about an hour, gradually increasing to around 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The wall is loaded with an axial load and must sustain it without the temperature rising on the unexposed side. Materials on the furnace side are sacrificial. If the wall sustains the load, no flame passes through, and the temperature remains controlled, the test is considered a pass. Additionally, a hose stream test is conducted after the one-hour test, where the wall is hit with a fire hose to ensure it does not collapse or allow water penetration.
