#669: Kevin Kelly — Excellent Advice for Living

The Tim Ferriss Show

NOTE

The Argument for Being Optimistic

Being optimistic allows us to envision and believe that we can make really good things happen, especially when it comes to complicated projects. It's difficult to make complicated things work because there are usually more ways for them to fail than to succeed. We need to have the optimism to see that it can be done and believe that we can make it real. Throughout history, many of the things we have now were made by people who optimistically believed in their possibility. Imagination is key to this optimism, as it is harder to imagine success than failure. Entrepreneurs and others who go against the grain and imagine improbable scenarios deserve recognition because most things that work are improbable. By imagining and believing in the improbable, optimists shape our future.
