The canban is a way of managing your tasks and projects that has this am limit, limits your work in progress. You don't let yourself add to that until you've moved some off by completing them. The other side of this that's always a struggle is with calendar's right? I'm trying more and more to put meetings and conversation like this into a single day a week where i can so that i can keep the other ones free. It's not perfect, and i don't think you should try to make it perfect, but filters like that, depending on your work situation, can be really useful.
