A software and consulting firm named Real Page allegedly coordinates landlord pricing decisions in Portland to increase rents nationwide. They use algorithms for price collusion by having landlords share pricing information and determining what should be charged for rental units, leading to artificially high prices and an 80% rent increase in Atlanta since 2016. Historically, the FBI used to be involved in antitrust investigations, but such actions have not been seen recently.
