There's a long gap from the origin of the ucharotic cells to the first animals. A why so long? Seems to be geology as much as anything else. And we don't really know what was going on. The idea that there's acont of an inevitable march towards complexity, i don't think he's right,. doesn't not stay as long, but i think it's not going to happen often.
