Challenges of AI in Recognizing Interesting Discoveries
Recognizing interesting discoveries often requires a new conceptual framework or paradigm, which is a challenge for AI trained on existing data. AI is not naturally inclined to explore new territories absent of human connections. The domain of arbitrary computation may uncover fresh discoveries not in current scientific knowledge but connecting them to human understanding remains a human prerogative. Although AI can venture into uncharted territories, the task of identifying and relating these findings to human comprehension involves human choices and historical context. While AI can pursue various paths, translating these discoveries into meaningful insights within science relies on human internal experiences. Unlike exact sciences, fields like biological, human, and social sciences operate with less formality that could pose challenges for AI in recognizing valuable discoveries.
