The Problem with the Notion of Mental Health
The concept of mental health being solely internal and subjective is flawed. Human well-being is intricately connected to the establishment of solid social relationships and being properly situated in a hierarchy that includes the social environment. Focusing excessively on oneself leads to isolation and mental health issues rather than happiness. Teaching individuals, especially children, the importance of forming relationships, having a partner, friends, an occupation, and an educational plan is crucial for overall well-being, as the emphasis on individual mental health in isolation is oppressive and insufficient.
