NOTE

Proper Sizing Prevents Complications

Complications such as leakage and granulation tissue can be largely avoided by using a properly sized low-profile tube. Granulation tissue forms when the tube's bumper is too loose, causing irritation. Leakage can occur if the tube is either too tight or too loose, while a correctly sized tube can prevent such issues. In cases of leakage despite proper sizing, gastric outlet obstruction should be considered and ruled out. During the procedure, it is crucial to measure and record the stoma size, ensuring the absence of tension on the tube to accurately assess the fit.
