In the world of infinite categories, ranking and sorting by category no longer matters. However, the long-tail universe allows us to find exactly what we're looking for. It doesn't matter how niche our interest is, because people's labels and tags help us locate what we need. Even the dinosaurs near my house can be labeled as Canada geese and dinosaurs. One reason for maintaining taxonomy is to divide us through labeling.
