Effort should be made in meditation until a certain point, and then one should stop trying to meditate to avoid restlessness or falling asleep. In the process of meditation, recognition of the object of meditation and neuron firing can happen simultaneously according to a commentator. The Benjamin Libet experiments suggest that neurons can fire before conscious thoughts occur, leading to the conclusion that the brain's machinery is initiated before the awareness of thought. This aligns with the concept in the Bhagavad Gita that nature, the body, and the nervous system are responsible for actions, indicating that consciousness does not actually initiate any actions.
