Napoleon's strategy of attacking the British in France wins over the French, even the royalists. He captures British commander Charles O'Hara, who had previously surrendered to George Washington. O'Hara becomes the only person to surrender to both Washington and Napoleon and is sent to prison in Paris with Thomas Payne, who wrote The Rights of Man.
