Working with founders in the startup world is a craft that I love, even if it means not being a great capitalist. Choosing between starting a company or being an investor is a tough decision, but being an investor has higher expected value and potential for success. Even if you fail, you can still make a lot of money and maintain a good image. On the other hand, failed founders are often seen as unsuccessful and broke. The job prospects are also better for venture capitalists compared to hedge fund managers.
