NOTE

The Danger of Overplacement vs. Underplacement

Overplacement is a critical bias where individuals tend to overestimate their abilities, leading to entering competitions they will lose, taking risks that won't pay off, and making embarrassing public displays. This bias causes individuals to think they are better than average at tasks they have mastered. In contrast, underplacement makes individuals shrink back, avoid competition, and refrain from putting themselves forward. While both overplacement and underplacement are errors, overplacement is deemed more harmful as it often results in embarrassing and detrimental outcomes.
