i am curious to know how well you think we are generally at recognizing our own fortune. One of the metrics that i use for people that admire is the degree to which they acknowledge luck in their lives. And i have very little patience with particularly successful people who don't acknowledge the luck. any one you admire, you write, their lucky breaks happened on a detour from their main goal. So embrace detours.
