55. Reconstructing Value (w/ Zak Stein)
Metamodern Meaning
Exploring the Significance of Value in the Universe
The universe consists of matter, time, space, motion, consciousness, and value according to McGill Chris and various wisdom traditions. Value is emphasized as a crucial component that drives the evolution of cosmic value. The concept of a 'field of value' and 'universal grammar of value' is introduced to foster non-arbitrary discussions about what is valuable. By resuscitating discussions about intrinsic cosmic value, we can enrich our understanding, perception, and articulation of value. This perspective challenges the notion that values are relative and instead asserts that the laws of value are as real as physical laws. By engaging in intergenerational dialogue, we can deepen our understanding of value and its significance in shaping the 'good life'. This approach aims to integrate perennial traditions into a conversation about value, offering a new perspective on non-duality theology and evolutionary spirituality in relation to intrinsic cosmic value.
