In 2022, more new Boulangeries opened in France than closed, with over 2,500 new bakeries across the country. The fastest growth was seen in the outer suburbs of Paris, where people rely on cars. Chains like Maribascher have capitalized on this trend and now have 700 outlets, making it one of the top 10 fast food chains in France. While these bakeries lack the charm of high street shops, they still adhere to the traditional methods required to be called Boulangeries in France. This includes making baguettes from dough prepared and baked on-site, despite having industrial-scale kitchens on display.
