The fear of trauma leads us to avoid failure and competition, hindering our resilience. It causes us to protect individuals from losing or experiencing any discomfort, ultimately diminishing everyone's ability to bounce back from setbacks. This fear of trauma also drives us to rush individuals to experts at the slightest deviation from societal norms, such as different gender identities. Overall, our aversion to trauma drives many of our actions and decisions, instilling a deep-rooted fear of potential psychological harm.
