The Importance of Removing the 'I Do' in the Learning Process
In a thinking classroom, the focus is on students making meaning together rather than just mimicking. The traditional I do, we do, you do approach promotes mimicking behavior. Instead, we should aim to remove the I do and give students the minimum amount of information they need to start solving problems. The amount of time we talk at students affects their ability to think and learn. It's important to give them space to figure things out and only intervene when necessary. The key is to encourage students to think and apply their knowledge rather than just mimic.
