**The Impact of Expectations vs Hopes **
The perception of adversity is closely linked to how experiences match up against expectations. Replacing expectations with hopes can lead to a more positive attitude toward the future. Expectations can breed resentment and entitlement, fostering rigidity and discontent, while hopes cultivate gratitude, proactive flexibility, and a broader perspective. Hopes are focused on divine promises and an eternal identity, contrasting with expectations that hinge on people and mortal circumstances. Viewing life and its challenges through a lens of hope enables acceptance and anticipation of adversity.
