The arrival of automation in the form of robotics, contrary to popular belief, is not leading to unemployment among lower-skilled or less educated individuals. Instead, it is increasing productivity and lowering the prices of goods and services involving white-collar work significantly. This price drop leads to an increase in spending power, ultimately improving the quality of life for individuals and creating new job opportunities. This shift in the economic landscape, focusing on the consumer first, would negate the need for universal basic income as the cost of living decreases effectively amounts to giving everyone a raise.
