This polymathic approach was evident in figures like Montesquieu, Comte du Beaufon, Christopher Wren, William Herschel, and William Petik, who excelled in various fields. The elite were encouraged to pursue diverse interests, leading to the acknowledgment and celebration of polymaths throughout history. However, contemporary perspectives now portray these polymaths as specialists, disconnecting us from our polymathic heritage.
