The machine is limited by its programmed knowledge and cannot identify new phenomena that are entirely unique and unexpected, such as two pulsars perfectly synchronized, because it lacks the ability to look for the unknown. While the search for anomalies in data is constant, truly new phenomena are not recognized since they do not fit into existing categories or known properties.
