Increased confidence in psychiatric disorders can be a paradox as individuals may exhibit confident behaviors but have low self-esteem. In hypomania, individuals may display high certitude, leading to stubborn arguments, arrogance, and risk-taking behavior. However, in mixed mania with depression, despite lacking confidence, they may appear demanding, intimidating, or overly stubborn to others.
