His background in competitive debate and persuasion equipped him with the insight that until someone has repeatedly said no, they are in the process of saying yes. This philosophy was exemplified when he confidently stood before the vice chairman of Bank of America to advocate for a program, emphasizing the importance of aligning incentives to lead others to the same conclusion. Despite being an outsider, his remarkable intelligence and self-taught knowledge propelled him to articulate his views boldly and with confidence.
