The Importance of Social Constructs in Raising Boys

After a circumcision mishap destroyed their son's penis, traumatized parents turn to Dr. John Money for guidance. Money introduces the concept of gender roles as social constructs and suggests raising their son as a girl. This misguided experiment, later known as the John/Joan case, was a failure and left the child with psychological scars. Before 1955, gender was exclusively used in grammar and didn't enter medical literature until Money's introduction of gender roles.
