The individualized family home, idealized in suburbia, was imposed after world war two. And i think there's a really interesting anti communist story to be told about suburbs - one developer said no man who owns his own home can be a communist because he has too much work to do. Yes, we try and tell some of these stories in this book. But also looking at the various ways in which alternatives to the individualize family home have been created, but also failed.
