Assessing the Impact of Carbon Dioxide Drought on the Planet
From a scientific perspective, the planet is experiencing a severe carbon dioxide drought when compared to historical standards over millions of years. The increase in carbon dioxide from the fossil fuel industry has actually led to a significant greening of the planet, with a 20% increase in green areas in the last 20 years, primarily in semi-arid regions. Contrary to predictions, these areas did not turn into deserts due to global warming. Moreover, crop productivity has increased by approximately 15% alongside this greening. While rapid ecosystem transformation due to increased carbon dioxide levels should raise environmental concerns, the evidence suggests that the influx of carbon dioxide has had a net ecological benefit so far.
