Historical Validity of the United Monarchy
The historical accounts in the Book of Kings are based on contemporary sources, but the existence of a powerful United monarchy ruled by Saul, David, and Solomon is not supported by convincing archaeological evidence. There is a lack of monumental architecture in the supposed ruling area, and no textual evidence beyond biblical texts corroborates claims of a vast empire encompassing Israel, Judah, and parts of southern Levant.
